Psychology Diploma (Paper) - Level 3 NCFE

This is the paper (print) version of our Psychology Diploma programme. If you wish to study this course via our online learning system, please click here

If you have a keen interest in why people do the things they do, then this psychology course is perfect for you, with the added bonus of being able to learn from home at your own pace.

Psychology is the study of the mind and behaviour.

This programme will investigate how psychologists have come a long way in terms of developing an understanding of human behaviour and the mental processes that underpin the way we act.

The understanding of human behaviour has vastly improved over a short period of time due to technology and research. Evaluating and discussing human behaviour can be very rewarding. Do you sit 'people watching'? Find out why people do the things they do on a day to day basis.

In this psychology programme, students will investigate:

  • How scientists have studied the mind, brain and behaviour

  • How our understanding of the world develops as we grow up

  • How much we are influenced by other people

  • How our thoughts and actions are related to brain activity

  • How psychologists explain personality and intelligence

  • How psychology can be applied in the real world

Our psychology programme has been split into seven modules, all of which will introduce the learner to the key theories and concepts that are associated with the theme of psychology. Modules 2-6 are all split into a Part A and a Part B to assist the students understanding.

The main features of the Psychology programme include:

‘Setting the scene’ boxes – which describe relevant case studies that demonstrate points that are made in the main text.

‘From the archives’ boxes: These make reference to the key research studies published in academic journals. These bring you into contact with the methods used by psychologists to test and improve their theories.

‘Have a go’ boxes: These encourage active learning. This is where students are more involved in the learning process.

The psychology course has been written by Dr Matthew Smith and Elizabeth Ottley. Matthew Smith is a former Associate of Psychology at Liverpool Hope University. He also has almost 20 years’ experience in research and teaching Psychology. He worked in the media and even had a spell working on the television programme Most Haunted. Elizabeth Ottley is post graduate student in Psychology. Please note: to achieve the Diploma, you will be required to carry out additional research. This will enable students to develop and improve their research skills.
