Course Description

Stroke Awareness Course - Level 3 Diploma

Our Stroke Awareness programme will assist learners in developing their knowledge and understanding of what the effects of having a stroke are, and the caring requirements.

The programme will provide students with an insight into a range of ideas and methods that can be used in order to best care for individuals during and after having a stroke.  

This is the ideal course for individuals who work in a care setting for example, hospitals, care homes and people’s own homes. This is a Level 3 programme and is the equivalent of a GCSE or A-Level. There are ten modules, all of which cover a different topic involving the care of people who have suffered a stroke. 

Students can also expect to examine Transient Ischaemic Attacks (TIAs), and develop their understanding of this subject area.

  • Unit 2: Assessment, Treatment, and Care after a Stroke in the UK

  • Unit 3: Working as a Team

  • Unit 4: Essential Skills: Helping with Positioning and Mobility after a Stroke

  • Unit 5: Essential Skills: Ensuring Good Nutrition after a Stroke

  • Unit 6: Essential Skills: Helping People Improve Bladder and Bowel Function after a Stroke

  • Unit 7: Essential Skills: Enabling People to Communicate after a Stroke

  • Unit 8: Essential Skills: Helping People with Sensory, Perception and responsiveness Difficulties after a Stroke

  • Unit 9: Essential Skills: Helping People with Cognitive and Emotional Issues after a Stroke

  • Unit 10: Positive Care: maximising Strengths


No Previous Knowledge Required

There is no prior learning knowledge needed to enrol on to this programme. This makes our Stroke Awareness programme easily accessible to anyone who would like to learn more about this subject area. 


12 Months Tutor Support

Students will receive a course manual and study guide. You will also be designated a personal tutor who will be on hand to answer any questions or queries you may have, throughout the duration of the programme (via mail or email). Learners will also be able to access our student support team who are available to provide you with any practical advice you may require (via email or telephone). Students can feel confident that there is unlimited support available, so there is no need to feel isolated throughout your studies. 



To achieve the Stroke Awareness ABC Qualification, students will be required to successfully complete all the necessary activities in the Workbook. 

There are 10 modules, all of which will have their own assessment to complete. Your personal tutor will review, mark and provide feedback on your work. 


Awarding Organisation

At the end of this course successful learners will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the details all of the units you have completed as part of your course).
