Course Description

Autism Awareness - Level 2 ABC Award

Autism is a complex and diverse condition that has been the centre of scientific research over the last few decades. The purpose of the Autism Awareness course is to improve and develop your understanding, it also provides practical suggestions when working with individuals who are Autistic.

Autism can cause a variety of difficulties for example on a social level, language and also communication. There are different levels of severity, which can range from undiagnosed or unnoticed to severe, when the individual finds it almost impossible to participate and integrate in society.

There have been no boundaries identified between the conditions Asperger and Kanner. Collectively we refer to ‘autistic spectrum disorder’ or ASD, as this allows for the differences in both symptoms and severity. Often people are in-between, whether in between Kanner’s and Asperger’s syndrome, or in between ‘normal’ and Asperger’s syndrome. A person without the Autistic Spectrum Syndrome is called a neuro-typical.

This programme allows you to become familiar with a range of approaches to autism. You will also develop an increased awareness of how to get a diagnosis as well as be able to understand the genetic environmental causes of autism.

The autism awareness course will also explain how research in other conditions can help research into autism. The aim of the module is to provide a better awareness of the term ‘autism’ and ‘autistic spectrum disorder’ (ASD).

  • Define autism

  • Understand the difference between autism and Asperger’s syndrome

  • Explain the gender differences

  • Identify conditions related to ASD

  • Explain how research in other conditions can help research into autism

Our aim is to provide you with the best possible deal available. The cost of the course will cover registration fee, certification fee, and also tutor support.
