Course Description

Debt Counselling Diploma - Level 3 OLQA

Our Debt Counselling Diploma will provide students with the knowledge and understanding needed to be successful in this field. This course will focus on the assessment and analysis of psychosocial factors linked to debt. Students will investigate the basic counselling skills and necessary knowledge related to this field. Not only this, learners will cover the five approaches involved in counselling. This programme focuses on the assessment and analysis of psychosocial factors which are linked to debt, and how the challenges of therapy can be met.

This programme will investigate and examine the processes of the debt spiral and surrounding issues including: IVAs, credit card debt and also bankruptcy. Students will also explore matters such as causations as well as metaphorical problems. Learners will investigate the psychodynamic, person centred and also cognitive behavioural approaches. This course will provide students with a greater working understanding of the necessary advanced counselling skills. Each module will provide information on how it is directly linked to debt counselling.

During the course, students will be required to obtain an advanced level of counselling skills in order to develop their ability to deal with the wide variety of customer needs. Students will be required to complete a number of exercises, in which will allow you to evaluate and monitor your personal progress.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to understand the origins of the physiological and emotional factors. This programme covers ten modules, all of which will require students to complete an assignment and a thesis. It will also end with an online exam. 

The course materials are provided as an online version. Upon request, you can have the materials delivered in paper form. This will incur an extra fee of £65.

 

No Previous Knowledge Required

There is no previous learning knowledge or experience needed to enrol on to this course.

  • Module 3: The cognitive behavioural approach relevant to debt counselling

  • Module 4: The person-centred approach relevant to debt counselling

  • Module 5: Client–counsellor relationships in debt counselling

  • Module 6: What is debt? Part 1

  • Module 7: What is debt? Part 2

  • Module 8: Concepts of change

  • Module 9: Achieving aims and goals in debt counselling

  • Module 10: Looking at specific debts such as credit cards 

 

12 Months Tutor Support

Students will be assigned a personal tutor who will be on hand to answer any question you may have, throughout the duration of the programme (via mail or email). 

 

Assessment

To achieve the Debt Counselling Diploma, students will be required to complete an online multiple choice examination, which will count for 100% of the final mark. 

There also are ten SAPs (pieces of coursework) and a thesis. This is not mandatory as it will have no influence on your final grade. However, we do highly recommend that you complete them as they will be beneficial when it comes to exam preparation. 

 

Awarding Organisation

The Debt Counselling Diploma has been Quality Assured by OLQA.  Once students have successfully completed the course they will receive a certificate by Oxford College. Please note: this qualification does not carry UCAS points but is recognised by employers and also universities as a level 3 qualification. It is vital that you check the entry requirements for your chosen university, to see if they will accept a Level 3 Diploma instead of UCAS points.
