Course Description

Family Counselling Diploma - Level 3

Our Family Counselling course will provide learners with the core knowledge and understanding needed to successfully complete this programme. Students will look at the basic counselling skills and also the range of different approaches of counselling.

Since the 1950’s, the topic of family counselling has developed dramatically. Family counselling is a collaboration of constructionist, modernist and also post-modernist views. Learners will investigate the two key developments concerned with family counselling, throughout the last 60 years. Such advances have been the integrative practices and also systemic formulation, which connects the theory and practical elements.

Students will also explore a range of working models and theories linked to this topic area. Concepts learners can expect to study include meta-communication, triangulation, open and closed systems, genograms, solution focused counselling, reframing, and also reflective practice and goal setting.

Students will learn about psychodynamic, person-centred and also cognitive behavioural approaches. This will enable the learner to develop a greater working knowledge and understanding of a more advanced level of counselling skills. Such skills are necessary when dealing with a variety of complex client needs.

You will also boost your understanding with regards to the background of the emotions and physiological aspects. Students will be guided through ten units, all of which will involve the student completing an assignment, and also a final online exam.

Students can study the learning materials online, or there is the choice to have the materials delivered in print. This will incur an additional fee of £65.
