Course Description

Teaching Assistant Certificate - Level 2 ABC Award

Our Teaching Assistant course has been designed and created to enable individuals who work or wish to work in the role of the teaching assistant. This programme will assist learners in becoming a Teaching Assistant. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding needed to successfully complete this course. This programme will provide students with the opportunity to enhance their skills. The purpose of this course is to provide learners with a real insight into the conduct of a classroom, the activities involved, as well as a variety of classroom support activities.

In the role of the teaching assistant, you will be required to support and aid teachers in their daily work within the classroom.  This assistance will enable the teacher to fully focus on teaching their pupils. There are a range of titles that are related to the teaching assistant for example learning support assistant, or classroom assistant. A teaching assistant is also required to provide support to all children with a range of individual needs. You may need to work on a one-to-one basis or with smaller groups of pupils.

In some instances you may need to step into to cover a class if the teacher is absent. Some schools, a teaching assistant may need to help students with aspects such as literacy and numeracy. In some cases you may also be required to help pupils with special educational needs. Teaching Assistants play a significant role within the classroom, more so, with the increase of student numbers in classrooms.

Teaching assistants will provide students with the support and help they may need in reaching their potential. Upon successful completion of this course, you may decide you would like to progress on to further education and study the level 3 and level 4 Teaching Assistant courses.
