Course Description

Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce QCF (Early Learning and Childcare pathway)

This course is ideal for individuals who work, or would like to work in Early Learning and Childcare. Students will be provided with all the necessary learning knowledge and materials needed to develop a high level of understanding, in which will enable them to successfully complete this programme. Learners will also have the opportunity to enhance their skills in this field. This programme is a fully approved QCF level 3 qualification which has been endorsed by NCFE. Upon successful completion of this course, students will gain 65 credits.

The purpose of this programme is to enable learners to improve their knowledge and understanding of the role of learning and development, in a child care environment. Not only this, students will investigate the legislation framework in which child carers operate within. Students will explore the range of personal and interpersonal skills which are required of individuals who work with children. 

There is a combination of modules that require a variety of responses. The workbook involves descriptive answers or the completion of practical exercises. Completion of such tasks will support your role. This programme will cover the necessary aspects that surround the current standards for employment in the child care sector. This programme will provide students with all the necessary learning knowledge and understanding regarding the existing standards for employments within the child care sector.

Prior to becoming qualified to work within this sector, learners will be required to complete a competence based qualification. Such work will cover elements of assessment in the workplace. The placement will enable students to develop and enhance their practical skills in this field. Not only this, you will improve your existing knowledge of childcare. Upon successful completion of this qualification, students will have obtained all the necessary skills and knowledge needed to immediately start work in a childcare setting.  

Before you can start this course, you will be required to have obtained voluntary experience within an Early Years environment.

  • Module 9: Engage in personal development in health, social care or children and young people’s settings.

  • Module 10: Promote equality and inclusion in health, social care or children and young people

  • Module 11: Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children and young people’s setting. 

  • Module 12: Context and principles for early years provision 

  • Module 13: Promote learning and development in the early years

  • Module 14: Promote children’s welfare and well-being in the early years

  • Module 15: Professional practice in early years settings

  • Module 16: Support children’s speech, language and communication

  • Module 17:  Work with babies and young children to promote their development and learning

  • Module 18: Support children and young people to achieve their educational potential

  • Module 19: Care for physical and nutritional needs of babies and young children

 

12 Months Tutor Support

Students will receive a course manual and a study guide on enrolment. You will be assigned a personal tutor who will be on hand to answer any questions you may have, throughout the duration of the course (via mail or email). 

 

Assessment

To successfully achieve this qualification, students will be required to demonstrate their abilities through assessment in a working environment. Each section will be assessed through completion of a portfolio. Such work will display your ability and how you have met each learning outcome. 

The number of placement hours for this course has not been specified. It is important that you do ensure that you spend sufficient time at the centre to make sure that students can develop their skills, knowledge and understanding in this field.

This programme has been approved under NCFE IIQ Licence by Kendal Publishing Limited, which has been accredited as an NCFE Investing in Quality (IIQ) centre to provide recognition to courses. Accreditation from NCFE is seen as a guarantee of high quality. Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded a certificate.
