Course Description

Alexander Technique - Level 3 OLQA

There is more to the Alexandra Technique than gaining a ‘good posture’, it is a process that allows the individual to gain a better understanding and awareness of their psychological and physical self. This will encourage the transmission of positivism through movements of the body.

Some people are able to move with ease and grace, and they seem to have a good posture, well-being, and also freedom of movement. Whereas some individuals have very badly posture and movement. This can include the suffering of distorting ourselves, collapsing and also tensing in our movements.

The Alexander Technique can assist and aid people who suffer with physical conditions such as stress, sleep disorder and also back pain. This method can also be used to help sports men and women, musicians as well as people with a varied range of task related physical activities, where the awareness of movement, posture and also balance is related. It can also be very beneficial in pregnancy and also during childbirth.

Our Alexander Technique Diploma has been specifically created for people who want to gain a better understanding and learn more about the technique by which they can practice as an Alexander Practitioner. It is also useful for people who have a keen interest in learning this practice for themselves.

This course consists of ten modules all of which cover topics ranging from anatomy and physiology, specific movements and postures, psychology, Alexander lessons, and practitioners responsibilities.  This course will also provide the learner with guidance on professional affiliation, the relevant codes of conduct on how to form a teaching practice.

Each module will have a specific theme and will be followed by coursework. Tutors will provide detailed constructive feedback in order to ensure the student understands the concepts and models of the subject areas explored. Tutors will also set some additional written activities within the modules, which are all in place with the intent to help with preparation and planning of coursework and also essay revision purposes (these will not be marked by the tutor).
