Course Description

Addiction Counselling - Level 3 OLQA

Students will be provided with a fuller working knowledge and understanding of subject areas including: psychodynamic, person-centred, and also cognitive behavioural approaches.

Students will have support on hand to gain a better understanding of advanced counselling skills. There are a range of modules to be completed each of which is specifically linked to addiction counselling. Throughout the course there will be activities in place to allow the student to evaluate their own work. The advanced skills are necessary in more specialist counselling fields, as they will enable you to deal with a range of clients and recognise their specific needs. Not only this, but you will be required to have sufficient knowledge of the origins of particular physiological and also emotional factors.

This course will specifically focus on the analysis and assessment of psychosocial factors which are linked to addiction, as well as how addictive behavioural problems meet the challenges of treatment and therapy. Students will also learn about substance and alcohol addiction. Many of the theories and concepts that we will examine can be applied to the majority of addictive behaviours.

The course involves the study of ten modules. All of which required the learner to complete assignments. Once the course has successfully been completed you will be required to pass a 5000 word extended essay question. You have the option to either study online or to have learning materials delivered in paper form. This will be an additional charge of £65.

Students can request that they complete the course online. This means that no paper based materials will be posted to the learner.
