Course Description

End of Life Care Course - Level 3 QCF

Our End of Life Care course has been created to allow learners to develop their knowledge in this field. Students will have the opportunity to match their understanding with the practical skills they have already obtained in the health and social care sector. Students will be required to undertake the study of five units.

Unit 1

This section will allow students to gain a real insight into the emotive issues that surround death and dying. It will also aid learners in developing their knowledge of palliative care and its place with end of life care. It will also give learners an understanding of the support services which are available.

Unit 2

This unit will provide learners with an in depth understanding of the significance of communication when supporting and assisting an individual, throughout the process of end of life care.

Unit 3

The purpose of this unit is to provide students with an understanding of the person-centred approaches and techniques used in the assessment and also the care planning within end of life care. Learners will also investigate the legal implications that may arise during the decisions that need to be made throughout the advanced care planning decisions.

Unit 4

This section will provide learners with an insight into the person-centred approach that takes place at the end of life care. Students will learn how to meet certain individual needs such as physical, emotional, social and also cultural requirements.

Unit 5

In this final area, students will need to understand a variety of approaches when it comes to providing care in the approach to the last hours of care and death.  Students will also be guided through the processes undertaken through loss and grief. You will learn techniques to best support individuals who are bereaved, and are dealing with high levels of stress.
