Course Description

Child Coaching Diploma - Level 3 OLQA

Child Coaching is less than fifteen years old, even though it has historic origins that cover more than a century. This programme will examine definitions, models and also standards in child coaching. Students will also investigate the key principals which will encourage the successful child-coach relationship.

This course will investigate child development both physically and psychologically. Not only this, it will look at the parent-child relationships and how communication can shape a child’s behaviour. There is a need for alternative methods of communication due to the vulnerability of children.

Whilst working with children you will be required to use flexible methods, which may include creative mediums and hands on strategies, which will be examined throughout the duration of the programme.

This Diploma will include a range of subject areas which will provide learners with an in depth knowledge and understanding of the Child Coaching area.

The learning materials can be studied online or learners have the choice to have the materials delivered in print. This will incur an additional charge of £65.

Module 3: Communication and specialist coaching skills

This section will look at how children react and respond to different environments and situations. It will also examine coaching skills which are vital when working with children.

Module 4: Special considerations

This module will guide students through ethical issues when working with children. This will include consent, criminal records documentation, as well as working with vulnerable groups and also professional codes of conduct. Students will also investigate a range of issues affecting coaching responsibilities, and how successful relationships can be created and maintained with children.

Module 5: Changes

Module 5 investigates some of the reasons that children require coaching. It may be that children are shy and find it difficult to fit in with their peer group. Other areas that will be covered in this module include, family situations such as divorce, loss or separation.
